About Jeff Gall
I have always been a daydreamer. My first report card in school read “Needs help tying shoes. Seems to have a gift for art. Loves to draw and paint. A daydreamer.” In high school, my art teacher allowed me to skip my other classes and continue painting, recognizing that this was what I loved to do more than anything else. When I was 15 years old, my mother brought home a crate of vintage Art News and Art in America magazines from the late 50’s to the early 70’s, and there I found my gospel. Hans Hoffman, Mark Rothko, Clifford Still, Robert Motherwell, Helen Frankenthaler, Ellsworth Kelly, Barnett Newman, Jackson Pollock - I worshiped at the New York School of artists. At Paier College of Art, I received a strong, traditional art education including design composition, critique of form, life drawing, and painting. I wanted to explore Abstract Expressionism more fully, so I transferred to Philadelphia University of the Arts, where I immersed myself in Modern Art. Since then, I have continued on my journey to create, with shows at Guilford Art Center, Essex Cooperative Gallery, Silk Road Gallery, Gallery 360, City Lights, Oxford Arts Council (First in Show), Paint and Clay Club, City Wide Open Studios, and private shows in Wilton and Greenwich, CT. I live and work in Miami, FL.
